Union Kitchen opens a second, larger facility in Ivy City

It’s Official! Union Kitchen: Ivy City is now open. With two locations, our Members will now be able to dream up even more of the District’s best food and beverages.  – The Washington Post

Alumni Members JRINK Juicery open their 5th retail location, which will be attached to their new production site. Eventually, the juicery plans to have tours of the production facility for retail customers. – Eater DC

The Weekly Feed: Summer Camp Edition – The Capital Candy Jar, along with Undone Chocolate and Ruby Scoops, celebrated National S’mores Day on August 10th with live S’mores demos at Logan Hardware and Glen’s Garden Market. S’mores fans who missed out on the celebrations can still get their fix at the above locations, and through Urban Stems, with a custom S’mores kit featuring marshmallows from The Capital Candy Jar, dark chocolate from Undone Chocolate, and graham crackers from Ruby Scoops. – DCist

Cocktail Competition at the National Building Museum’s The BEACH: 

Featured a showdown between Wild Roots Apothecary, Element Shrub, and the winners, Embitterment! Cocktails featured local spirits, as well as products from other Union Kitchen Members. Those interested in mixing up their own Embitterment cocktails without spending too much cash can check out “Drinkonomics 101,” Embitterment’s guest blog on the Union Kitchen site. Members Showcased During “Dog Days of Summer” Sidewalk Sale at Logan Hardware

Spoil Me Rotten, Element Shrub, Baba’s Pickles, Bear’s Made, and Momme Meals were showcased at Logan Hardware’s storefront during the event, which included a number of participating shops on 14th St., in support of Washington Animal Rescue League.

Dirty South Deli Releases New “Collab’wich” with Edible DC’s Tim Ebner – The sandwich, available for a limited time, features spicy capicola, soppressata, sweet provolone, griddled eggplant, arugula, roasted red pepper relish and oil and vinegar.

Arts on the Block Reception – A mixed-media mosaic created by an apprentice from Arts on the Block for Union Kitchen: Ivy City was unveiled during Arts on the Block’s “Lifting Off: Teen Artists Take Flight, Make a Difference” reception; featuring food from Dirty South Deli, Haute Saison, and Quickstep Catering.
